Gamer Babe: Charlene
Many people will probably remember her as the sexy succubus or the “T-back” girl at the Level Up LIVE 2006 cosplay.
But Charlene Datan is also a true-blooded grrl gamer! She’s played through almost all MMORPGs offered here in the Philippines.
Charlene is a 20-year old student taking up ES Electronics Communications Engineering. I took a little bit off my busy schedule to chat with her about, gaming, cosplay and other stuff that she enjoys doing. She’s also on the cover of COSPLAY magazine! Wow!

Interviewees Wanted
Ahh…
Nothing like a nice lazy Saturday to start your weekend right. No work. No deadlines. No bosses.
Last night, we had a blast playing Tekken and some poker at the birthday of PittyDPat. Happy birthday, my friend! May you have 100 more!
At any rate, I just had this crazy idea of posting about gamer interviews. I’ve interviewed a lot of our GMs and Gamer Babes in the past. But it seems that I’m having difficulty sourcing out for more.
Interviews are always a welcome respite from all the stress and issues of the gaming world.
I’m opening the floodgates to anyone who wants to get interviewed. I’d prefer a Gamer Babe, of course. But I’m still open to any gamer willing to share his thoughts and his experiences for my readers.
Oh before I forget, here’s a shot of me with Gamer Babe Pam while working during a presscon.

The mechanics and rules are simple. It’s just one more click to find out, kids…

Gadgets: Inside GM Tristan’s Backpack
Okay… I love packing up for a trip. Unfortunately, I forgot my jacket when the entire Level Up management team went to Tagaytay for our corporate planning session. While they were enjoying the cool air, I was shivering like a wet dog.
Oh well, this post ain’t about jackets (and memory loss). I want to show you the essential gadgets and goodies that goes into my backpack when I go to a trip.
Ever wondered what actual gadgets or tools I use for work? and of course, to stay in touch online and to update this blog syempre! (and let’s NOT forget playing and gaming stuff)
Here’s the first photo:

Gamer Babe: Pam
It’s been awhile since I last posted new entries for Gamer Babe. I’ve been rather busy lately and didn’t have much time to scout around for the perfect candidates. But I think the search is over.
This month’s feature is Pam, one of my officemates. She’s with the New Media department. Pam’s always bright, cheerful and has been my diligent “Padawan” when it comes to “pang-aalaska”. Anyways, I always like being around Pam, she always has great ideas and I can confide with her whenever I have to rant about stuff.
Pam’s one those loyal LU peeps who’ve been with us through thick and thin. Let’s head over to the interview, shall we?

More about Pam after one more click…

On Being A Girl in the Games Industry
Not me of course.
This is about an editorial written by Michelle Clay of Turbine Games. She posts her story at womengamers.com
She writes about an interesting account of life inside an industry dominated by males. There, Michelle narrates about how the guys often treat her as somewhat of an oddity. But she has learned to adapt and survive in both the office and the industry.
Here’s an excerpt:
This is a young industry filled with young employees; and to top it off, it’s an industry that is all about play. So a large percentage of the employees are boisterous and unused to suit-and-tie formality. The result is a tee-shirt-and-jeans dress code, toys in the cubicles, nerf battles, after-work game sprees, over-the-top Halloween decorations, witty banter, trash-talk, and sometimes, topics of conversation that might get you a stern warning if you worked in an uptight environment. Sometimes it feels a bit like the Wild West. But, to balance that, from what I have seen, the folks in this industry know how to toggle in an instant from fun to serious. The work has got to get done, and it can’t be left in a shoddy state on account that the team was having a rubber-band battle.

Cosplay Babe: Francesca Dani
We have a lot of popular cosplay “celebs” here in the country like Alodia. But in Italy, one of the hot cosplayers is Francesca Dani
Francesca, who has a background in fashion and design has her own website, www.francescadani.com where she keeps her cosplay photos.
Check out some of her pics here

The Babes of Comic-Con 2007
The San Diego Comic 2007 was held this July 24 to 27 in San Diego (where else??). My good friend from the States, Jaycee aka Tiahip promised to give me a comprehensive coverage of the event. Tiahip will be the first ever “guest poster” on gmtristan.com. Of course, this site is always open to volunteers with cool and interesting content.
Speaking of interesting content (and while waiting for Jaycee’s coverage), here’s a preview of the girls of the cosplay in Comic Con 2007.

Thanks to GGL.com for the photos.
Of course, more girls after the jump!

Girl Hunt: New Blog By PityDPat
Blogs come and go. Some are about gaming, some are about making money while others splatter angst across the internet with personal views on all things-under-the-sun.
It’s a good thing that I convinced one of my officemates and close friend to start his own blog. I won’t reveal you his real name just yet. But his idea is pure genius!
Introducing the GirlHunt Blog by PityDPat.
It’s a blog about one of my favorite subjects - GIRLS!!!

Top 5 Girls of Gaming
Throughout the years, we’ve come to admire the female characters in video games. One of my fondest memories of course was rescuing a certain “Princess Peach” from the evil clutches of King Koopa while I took on the role of an Italian plumber with his cousin Luigi.
Soon after, scores of games would feature memorable heroines which would later become definitive icons in this digital age.
After giving it much forethought, I decided to just list down the gmtristan.com “Top 5 most influential female video game characters”

Countdown begins when you hit jump!
