As I hinted a couple of days back, the marketing team will be helping the Sales team install Perfect World to cafes. We needed every able body we could get and we were up to challenge.
Yesterday, Keith Morales, Brand Manager for RF Online, and myself were tasked to do installation work at the San Juan area. Since I lived there, I agreed to just pick up Keith at McDo in Greenhills at around 10am.
Read all about our adventures after the jump…
We started out at around 10:15 in the morning and decided to plan our “attack” over coffee and breakfast. We checked if we were armed for the assualt… CDs- check! Report forms – check! List of cafes – check!
And off we went.
We elected to tackle the N.Domingo area first where 3 cafes were listed. The first one, GameHost, we left the CDs at the “bantay” since they had someone who would install it for them. So we asked if we could inspect the store. With their blessing, we wrote down how many PCs they had, specs, hard drive space (PW is a 3GB monster!!!) and then other stuff. Keith and I proceeded to walk to the next corner for the next Internet cafe.
There, we found out that an LUG agent already left them a CD and they would be doing the installation tonight since there were customers at the shop during the time we were there. Meanwhile, an RF player approached Kieth and asked; “Pwede ba makahingi ng elems???” (Can you give me elementals). Now, elems are one of the rarest item in the game (RF). Keith politely explained to the guy that he could get stuff LEGALLY by joining events or the City Under Siege cafe tour.
Alrighty now!
Keith and I then proceeded to the next area and sadly, the two cafes listed there (on Parada Street) were still closed. So we then broke for lunch at one of my favorite restos in the city – Charlie’s Special Wanton (too bad they ain’t got a site, so I couldn’t link them. tsk tsk). All I can say is that the food there is to die for!
Now that we were full – we then continued work. TRYING to install the game in a few more cafes. Sadly, most would simply NOT allow it! Argggg… being an LUG Sales dude is tough work.
Most cafes had technicians who would install for them. While some have 3rd party contractors who would do formatting and installation on a weekly basis. So we were forced to just leave the CD, get their contact numbers and hopefully the REAL LU Sales dude will follow up on this.
Anwyays, now that Keith and I experienced first hand how it is to become an LU salesman, we now appreciate all the effort and hard work that they put in their jobs! It’s no joke… all the walking and the heat and the smoke is – difficult.
To the LU SALES TEAM – you have our undying gratitude and support. These guys are the unspoken heroes of the MMORPG and online gaming industry in our country. And being an LUG Sales Agent – albeit if just for a day – makes me proud to be part of that culture and discipline.
Mabuhay po kayo LU Sales Team!!!
In behalf of Keith, ciao!
