Alone in the Dark Tech Demo

March 11, 2008 · Filed Under General, Videos, Gaming

When it comes to new and great ideas in gameplay and realism, Alone in the Dark is the game to beat.

Alone in the Dark was one of the pioneers in the survival-horror-action genre and now the guys at Atari are well on their way to revolutionize how we play games. AitD will provide a complete next-generation, action-packed experience within a highly detailed, free-roaming environment, featuring a mixture of astonishing real-time physics and full environmental interaction. All this in HD! Sweet!

One of my favorite new twists to gameplay is the cool inventory system. You view your jacket (see the photo below) and you get stuff in real time (even while the baddies beat your sorry a$$)

Don’t miss the complete video of the tech demo and new physical rules after the jump… you’ll be amazed

Aside from the new and realistic physics models, one of the thigns that impressed me was the way you can combine the items in your inventory to affect the game world and the gameplay. Example; you can use sticky tape and tape it to a glow stick and stick it at the ceiling for better illumination.

At any rate, the video is better than my explanations. View on!

OMG! I grew up playing Alone in the Dark. I just hope this is just as good as the first, since the 3 sequels weren’t as great. I’ll be waiting for this!

Lord, it’s brilliant! I hope they’ll make it available for other platforms as the XBox 360 is such a fragile thing.

I wonder how this game will impact future adventure games and rpgs?
