Addicted to Guitar Hero 3

2 weeks ago, some of my officemates held a Guitar Hero 3 party. Project Officer Alex Mena brought his Xbox 360 and we “borrowed” the LCD projector from the conference room. Then some guys brought their Guitar Hero 3 guitars, we pumped up the volume and we rocked like hell ’til late in the evening.

I have to admit, it was my first time to play Guitar Hero and it was a blast. It was so fun and addicting that I had to find a way to play it at home. I still don’t have an Xbox 360 yet but I am saving for it and have plans to buy it this year.

Of course, I had to try EASY difficulty first. Then I slowly progressed to Medium.

The most fun part was doing a coop (Bass + Guitar) with a friend. We really had a blast playing cool metal hits like One by Metallica and my favorite song, Stricken by Disturbed.

Slowly, you’ll get the hang of it if you just listen to the song and “sync” yourself to the beat. Truly is a wonderful game and I have to hit myself in the head for just playing it now. And yeah, I had to borrow a Guitar Hero 3 set for the PS2 from a friend so I could practice at home (I don’t want the LU guys to get so much ahead of me hehehe).

And yeah, there’s also Rock Band, which is also a guitar-based game but you gut the entire band set, Mic, a bass, lead guitar, and a drum set! I got to try the drums for the first time last Saturday at the birthday party of Game Boss Ben Colayco and his friends, Phil, Syam and Patrick P. Yeah, baby! I rocked it!

Guitar Hero 3 costs around $100 or so (P4,000 to 5,000) and Rock Band will set you off for $170 (P7,000 to 8,000 depending on where).

Rock on!!!

P.S. The best player in Level Up, you ask? It’s a girl. Sigh.

    Locally you can get Rockband at 11k in Datablitz

    I tried Guitar Hero 3 on the PS2 since I have the guitar controller from the very first Guitar Hero game and I have to say I’m truly disappointed with what Neversoft did to the game.

    They made the reading of the strum bar too sensitive and if you try strumming it like a real guitar it reads the strum as 2 beats because you tend to bounce the bar.

    While on Rock Band, Harmonix still kept the feel of Guitar hero and even made it better with their new game. Plus song selection is waaay better on Rock Band. If you’re on the fence on which one to get, I highly suggest go for Rock Band even if it’s more expensive. It’s really worth the money anyways.

    @Joel: There are lyrics on the top of the screen. Follow it and if you’re “on tone” you get more points.

    I actually went to data blitz earlier this afternoon to get myself an xbox 360 too! I recommend an Xbox 360 Elite though, which has a 120gig (20gig yung normal xb360) hard disk and is now HDMI ready! Comes with 2 free games too! 3-4k difference btw. Honestly I think data blitz rips you off. Guitar Hero 3 costs 5.5k and Rock band has a hefty 11k tag on it. I’mma check greenhills tom. :)

    Agreed that Datablitz rips you off alot on Rock Band

    Unless you guy lucky relatives to lug that big box over here, or pay a lot for shipping, the only best alternative is getting it from them

    Sucks, but that’s reality 8(

    GM T, I have to agree with TheEdge and say that you’re throwing your money away on a XBox 360. The darn thing has more bugs than Joe’s Apartment. Go with a Wii and get Guitar Heroes II and III for it.

    just get gh3 for ps2, the wii guitars cost twice as much… hence… i’m stuck playing rayman raving rabbids. i have no idea of xbox 360 cost though…

    Hi!i’ve read your entries and it would be so nice to jam with you people coz actually, We are hosting an event on the first week of march that you actually get to meet people on bands on which they are going to play guitar hero.We are inviting people who actually play the real guitar and people who are legends at the game “Guitar Hero” I guess that didnt come out clear. I mean, We have this Wii shop and we are going to host a guitar hero tournament on which, it is not actually a tournament “TOURNAMENT” i mean, the difficulty level will be meduim, and you get to play for only a few bucks, and get a chance to win money and bragging rights(not to mention a picture in our wall of fame and a picture posted for people to see).     the game my dad bought was pirated kasi, so yeah. the guitar wasnt bundled with the game. hee.

    do you know how much is rockband ps2 or ps3? is it available already in philippines? can you tell me how much is it? ps2, ps3 or even xbox 360? and guitar hero is it avilable there also? bundle or just the game..how much is it also? how much is guitar hero controller too? please help thanks ghee
