5 Reasons Why I Still Love Ragnarok

Allow me to contribute to week 2 of my own Group Writing Project.

Of course, I cannot win. This post is just to show you how to make a “Top 5” list. In this article, I am listing why Ragnarok Online is still close to my heart.

pRO started in 2003 as an unknown game run by a similar unknown upstart company which was Level Up. I still remember my friend, GM Preator inviting me on February of that year to try out this “simple online game”.

Having hesitation, since my home connection was only a dial-up, I said “No, thank you” on the first invite.

Here are my “5 Reasons why I still love Ragnarok”

1. Simple game – it’s simple and easy to learn yet the gameplay can take a lifetime to master. Also, in Ragna, there are so many things to do. Even if the graphics are not the best in the world, there’s some magic factor which makes pRO exciting and fun. You easily feel “at home” when you log into the game.
2. Friends – one of the most common reasons when I ask other players why they still play. They reply “because of my friends”. And yes, I agree 110%. With the help of the pRO team and our players, we plan to highlight this is our marketing and operations programs.
3. Evolving Competition – The programs for “organized play” that we offer such as RWC and RPC has made our players more “professional”. This took gaming, builds and strategies to a whole new level. Aspiring to promote online games as true “cybersports” and develop cyber-athletes, this is one vision that me and the team are working towards.
4. Politics – It’s fun and exciting to see how guilds and server politics has involved. I keep regular correspondence with some of the leaders and the pillars of the game. These people have shown how true leadership can be bind hundreds of players into a combined vision. Show your members hope and they will follow.
5. Cute – the avatars, the monsters (even the MVPs) are cute. This is one of the reasons why I like this game. And also perhaps why some girls are attracted to it too (and of course there area a lot of guys hehe). The merchandise and media downloads are also fun and attractive.

Ok. So there’s my list. What about yours?

Why don’t go ahead and make a similar list and join week 2 of my group writing contest now!

Cheers,
GM T
