20th Philippine Ad Congress Photo Essay

November 24, 2007 · Filed Under Level Up, Events

First, I apologize for not having any posts yesterday. I was really busy the entire day at the 20th Philippine Ad Congress and was too tired to even open my laptop. Besides, my mobile wireless was not working and there was no Internet in our rented house.

Needless to say, PittyDPat, Gamer Babe Pam, and Joie were busy manning the booth while JC Medina was trying to do his “networking” rounds to find potential clients for our advergaming thrust. On Friday, November 23, Level Up International COO Ben “Gameboss” Colayco gave a great talk on advergaming, much to the delight of the crowd. He not just showed numbers and case studies but he also wowed the audience with a video about “Totoy” – a typical teenager and his daily encounters with ads and advergaming. We had this video produced just for this event.

Meanwhile, the Ad Congress was abuzz with activity. This year, more than 3,500 delegates from various industries converged here at Subic to either share notes, promote their own products and services, listen to talks, and network with peers.

More after the jump

The exhibit area was in fact dwarfed by the massive dining area and the plenary where companies such as print giants Inquirer, Star, Manila Bulletin and TV companies Solar and GMA7 hosted lavish luncheon and dinner parties. The highlight of these “spots” was, of course, the raffles. Inquirer gave away a brand new Ford Ranger. Not to be outdone, Star gave away NOT ONE but TWO brand new Toyota VIOS. I have a special personal story about the GMA 7 raffle – it’s so cool, that it deserves a post of its own.

I missed Neil Gaiman’s talk on Thursday morning. But friends told me that he shared his wisdom on conquering one’s “own mountains” and he told everyone to “look at something again and again for 999 times” and it may just be different on the thousandth time where things might “take a whole new meaning”. That, according to Mr. Gaiman is how the creative process works.

At any rate, check out some of the photos from the event:

Ciao,
