Top 5 Gifts

No. I didn’t get these gifts below for my birthday.

I wish I had. But the hundreds of friends and family that greeted me on my Facebook wall, through text messages, calls, e-mails, Twitter, YM, etc. are worth more than any gift in the world. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! You truly made my day.

Anyways, I asked the folks over at the Facebook page what they would get me for my birthday if money were no object. I promised to post the Top 5 “gifts” after that. And here they are…

Stanislav Petrov: The Man Who Saved The World

Wow! I never knew that my birthday could have been the end of the world.

September 26, 1983. Serpukhov-15 bunker. Near Moscow.

This bunker, codenamed Oko, housed the Soviet Union’s nuclear launch detection systems. In that normal September day, Russian Lt. Col. Stanislav Petrov was on duty on that facility. His job? To watch and monitor if the US launched any missiles directed to his motherland, the USSR. Shortly after midnight, an ICBM blipped on the radar screen which was launched from the United States. Its destination – the Soviet Union. ETA of impact was less than 30 minutes.

Allods Online Philippines

Yes, it’s official. Forgive me for this late post… it’s that time of year and I have to rush a lot of corporate reports and do some number crunching (yeah, Excel is hell).

After we teased it a couple of weeks ago, Level Up is proud to announce that ALLODS ONLINE PHILIPPINES is our new MMORPG. We’re scheduled to launch in a bit (details to be announced soon).

Looking for a new MMORPG is a tough choice. A lot of them are just old wolves-in-sheep’s clothing, meaning, they look exactly like any other MMORPG. What makes Allods unique is that it has a great storyline, thousands of quests, a faction based system, and the unique ability to build your own ships (and navigate them with your friends) to explore and travel the Astral plane in search of “Allods”, tiny chunks of the original planet with instanced dungeons and tough bosses.

Fire at J. Basa Street San Juan

I hate fires!

Back in 1993, our old home (also in San Juan) was burned to the ground. This year alone (around 4 months ago), I was witness to another fire in our city. But that one was relatively far from our place. This fire just today (at 6:30pm) was just around 6-7 houses from our place. It was terrifying.

My complete report after the break…
