It’s Confirmed – No Work on Jan 2

It’s the longest holday break yet! With a lot of “sandwiched” Fridays, President GMA has earlier declared that there WILL BE NO WORK (holiday) on January 2, 2009. This is the gist of Proclamation 1695 which executive secretary Eduardo Ermita signed into law last week.

Weeee! This means that work will resume on January 5, 2009. I’m sure we all deserve this long break to rest and be with our families. More details after the break.

Timewaster: Sock and Awe

One of the funniest moments in President George Bush’s tenure was when an Iraqi journalist threw NOT ONE but TWO shoes at him.

Of course, the Internet is fast to act – not just with news, videos and blog reports of the incident but also with a flash game a couple of days after the incident. The site, sockandawe was so popular that it was sold for around $8,000 after just a week of the shoe-throwing fiasco. If you’re bored, see if you can score better than the Iraqi journalist. What Are Your New Year Plans?

The price of fruit is now escalating to insane levels as families scramble to prepare for the traditional “Media Noche”, the New Year’s eve dinner. So what are your plans for New Year? I recently saw on TV (news) that traffic is now bad at the Bulacan area since a lot of people are also trying to do last minute purchase of firecrackers.

Let me just warn you – TRY TO AVOID THE FIRECRACKERS. Me? I don’t spend a single centavo on firecrackers. There are many ways to make noise without risking your fingers.

40 Percent of MMO Players are Female

We always thought that MMORPGs were dominated by male players. That “fact” is now challenged. Well, according to a recent study by BBC, 40% of MMO players are female. And it’s the girls that are dead serious on their characters and the games.

More details after the jump.

Video Editing: The Next Big Job Demand

Today (in the Philippines), it’s relatively easy to get a job in a call center. Good pay… work late nights… hot chicks – are just some of the perks. But the stress might kill you.

Now, think about this – almost all companies are looking at the web to make their marketing campaigns via viral ads, youtube or videos in their sites or blogs. That’s why my fearless forecast for the coming months is that video editors will be in great demand. How can you cash in?

Say Goodbye to Low Batt

I just came from the mall to do some last-minute Christmas shopping and I got myself a nifty little gadget. I also got a couple more to give to my tech-freak friends.

It’s a gadget that you plug into your cellphone for a quick recharge. Perfect for those important moments when you need to make a call or text. It costs only around P200 ($4) and you simply put an AA battery inside, connect the appropriate phone plug and you’re good to go.
