10 Lame Movie Games

April 20, 2008 · Filed Under Videos, Gaming, Movies · 2 Comments

It’s sad indeed when a big movie comes along and a game (through marketing execs’ insistence perhaps) adaptation comes along that makes you want to puke. It’s punishment for us gamers!

The inverse also holds true. Great video games become lame movies. Perhaps, with the exception of Tomb Raider. Anyways, I digress. I already told you the 10 Wost Ways to Die in a video game. After seeing the video below, you’ll wish you did.

That list and vid after one more click…

Mom Sells Brat Son’s Xbox 360

April 19, 2008 · Filed Under General, Musings, Gaming · 18 Comments

She’s one mean mom!

Sometimes moms don’t get mad, they get even. I hope my mom isn’t reading this. At any rate, this mother from Richmond, Virginia USA is selling her son’s Xbox 360 plus all the games because her son didn’t do the household chores. The son even broke the vacuum cleaner on purpose just to avoid cleaning his room.

Surprisingly, there have been NO BIDS on the auction at Ebay. But there are a LOT of comments from netizens.

Included in the item’s description is her full account on why she’s selling it.

That, after the break…

The Sims 3 Sneak Peek

April 18, 2008 · Filed Under Gaming · 4 Comments

In an old post, I hinted that EA will announce something about their new game, The Sims 3.

Now, the official Sims 3 website is out and the screens and the announced game features look promising. Taking advantage of graphics and “sims” tech, this game promises more fun and more control over your favorite sims.

Some of the new improvements include unique personalities for your Sims where you can “Select from dozens of personality traits and combine them in fun ways. The combination of traits you choose - brave, artistic, loner, perfectionist, klepto, romantic, clumsy, paranoid, and much, much more - help shape the behavior of your Sims and how they interact with other Sims.”

Hazel Ann Mendoza

April 17, 2008 · Filed Under Girls · 4 Comments

Hazel’s 50% of the March 2008 FHM Philippines cover (together with Nina Jose).

You might have seen her before at “Ang TV”. This half-spanish vixen is actually also Nadia Montenegro’s half-sister and confesses that it’s her first time to pose in a swimsuit. In the interview at FHM’s website she said;  “I  was nervous because it’s my first time to pose in a swimsuit. Pero excited ako kasi pag nakakikita ako ng FHM iniisip kong gusto ko rin lumabas dito. Besides, nagtu-two-piece naman ako sa beach. It was my mom who had qualms about it.”

Go and find back issues now of FHM. I’m sure they’re still in stock.

[ gadgets ] PSP Maintenance Guide

April 16, 2008 · Filed Under Gadgets · 2 Comments

More and more people are getting into handheld gaming. Here in the Philippines, the most popular would be the Sony PSP and the Nintendo DS.

I only have the PSP but am saving for a rainy day, so to speak, to buy me a DS pretty soon.

In the meantime, here’s a handy-dandy maintenance guide from PSP Blogger.

It will show you how to replace your faceplate, repair cracks, replacing the UMD door, clean parts and even make it waterproof (I don’t know why you’d want to do that). But don’t let your investment go to waste. Sometimes, you don’t even have to go to a repair shop to have it fixed. All it takes is a little common sense, bravery and some helpful tips from the web.

Blog Tip: Captivating Headlines

April 15, 2008 · Filed Under Blogging, Marketing · 5 Comments

Actually this tip doesn’t just apply to bloggers. It also applies to writers or web editors who make posts or articles on web-based or printed material.

In a nutshell, you have to write with your headline (first) in mind.

In my previous article, How to Write Better News, I tackled the fundamentals of creating crisp and direct-to-the-point content that both human and robot (the Google spider kind) can appreciate. Your headline will be the deciding factor whether your reader will click on that link or not.

If the header doesn’t have a call to action or is bland/lame, you can kiss your article (and that potential reader) goodbye.

A Pinoy MMORPG?

April 14, 2008 · Filed Under MMORPG News, Musings, MMOments, Gaming · 22 Comments

I’ve always toyed with the idea of conceptualizing and designing an all-Filipino MMORPG, one that shouts “truly Pinoy”. It’s in my “career wish list”, so to speak.

I guess there’s nothing wrong with daydreaming. But I know we’re not far from achieving it. Some of my friends have already designed Anito, the first true Filipino PC game. But when I say Pinoy MMORPG, it should have real Filipino elements, culture and flavor. One that we can call our very own.

Join me as we go on a brainstorming rampage on how we create the MMORPG that WE want to play.
