You may have noticed that I’m only posting at least 1 article a day. In the past few months, I’ve posted around 60. That’s at least 2 every day. I’ve even had a record of more than 90 posts - that was October of 2007.
Where’s this all leading? Laziness? Lost my drive?
Well, apparently not. I’ve decided to go for quality rather than quantity. And honestly, it’s not easy trying to figure out 2 to 3 NEW topics a day. So, there. I’ve said it.
I’ll try to slow down the pace a little (just a little, mind you). But expect more great articles, web finds and gems for me to share, ayt?
Everyone will wake up early today since it’s the launch date of the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto IV (GTA 4) by Rockstar Games.
In fact, the buzz for this game is so hot that IGN gave it a perfect 10 in their review. According to the IGN, the game is perfect in terms of graphics, gameplay, AI and even multi-player. The last time that they gave a game a “10″ was in 1999, to Soul Caliber. Yup, almost a decade ago. GTA 4 is also a strong contender for game of the year.
Meanwhile, check out their video review below and chances are you’ll agree…
Sorry for the scarce number of posts these past few days. Veeerrry hectic week at the office with all these deadlines and rush for some major projects.
Meanwhile, here’s something for everyone to reflect on.
What are the benefits of gaming in general?
For me, the first thing that comes to mind is “de-stress”. Games offer me an avenue to release tension and relax after a stressful day at the office. For instant fun, it’s usually the PSP for me. At home, I can get more tension off with either a brainless console game or some killing action via my PC with FPS or MMORPGs. If I’m bored, I try to practice some hard song off Guitar Hero.
11 Ragnarok countries will vie for the world title. Note that last year, our boys came in third with Thailand claiming the championship crown. This year, we’re playing on home ground so we should have the home-court advantage, so to speak.
Everyone here at Level Up is excited and the rush to prepare for our BIGGEST event yet goes into full gear.
This year’s motiff for LIVE 2008 is an Olympic feel. And yes, the BIGGEST online gaming event just got better. I’d like to thank everyone who worked really hard to put together the site. Project Manager Alex Mena, of course (ever dependable), Sansan, Daqs and everyone at creatives. The individual Head Judges per game (the Community Managers), the game Brand Managers, ICT and Webdev, GPS, New Media, Events and everyone who pitched in. Thanks so much for a fantastic job!
According to naysayers, “gaming will amount to nothing.”
Or so they say.
It just occured to me that goal setting is as important to gaming as it is to real-life. Video games offer you a myriad of choices. First, you can elect to complete it in “easy” mode or punish yourself in “extreme”. Play Guitar Hero and you’ll know what I mean.
This is more true in online games.
Without goals, you’re screwed. You’ll probably end up with a lame character, improper build and gear that’s not focused on a specific task. Well, not unless your goal is be like THAT.
Whenever people at the forums go on a thread-rampage and shout “unfair”, “imba” or “too strong”. The guys at the community department talk to the guys from the tech department. If both don’t come to conclusions, the easiest way to fix the situation is to NERF the damn thing.
But do you know how and when the word “nerf” came to be?
Here’s an interesing story. In the early 70’s, Parker Brothers (yup, makers of Monopoly) produced a polyurethane ball that can be fired from a gun. NERF, some say, stands for “non-expanding recreational foam”. Since then, there have been a number of Nerf Guns on the market similar to the one below
WoE SE boasts of a new siege system, 10 new Agits and even a stone that spawns Guardians. Whoa! Guild and siege strategies will never be the same. This is a good time as any to revist the world of Ragnarok… and call all your old buddies, load up that old RO Account and take part is the WoE Second Ed. Soon, the RO team will be announcing the scoring system of RPC. Stay tuned for that…
Due to a kickass headline, I was intrigued by this one. I wondered if it were an FPS, a puzzle game or something that will blend my brains (and my reflexes) to a pulp?
I was up to the challenge. Could I beat it? (and call everyone a n00b?).
Alas, it wasn’t any of the games I imagined. It’s a simple “maze” type game where you are a simple, cheesy red square. The goal? Just avoid the darn blue ones and get to the other side. Here are the complete rules.
Can you beat all 30 levels? Do tell me if you do. I couldn’t get past the first one. Arggg!
After several months, Perfect World has finally been infused with new blood. “Da Patch” as we have termed Dusk Palace here at the office has now seen the light of day last April 17. When talking to Perfect World managers, staff and even members of the community, the most often-asked question is: “when will you have the patch?”. During those times, there had been some hiccups, but we’re all glad that it’s finally over and PW has new content… since a lot of players are practically begging and demanding for it.
It’s not easy to manage, organize and prepare for a patch. It takes a lot of resources, planning, troubleshooting and yep, technical stuff, for something that seems so simple to be realized.
