10 Tips for Faster Power Leveling

One of the “constants” about online games and MMORPG is the grind. It’s a design factor which limits the players from becomming “too-powerful-too-fast”. Some games have more grind than most and some have inherrent systems where you could level up faster. This is either through quests or crafting, like in the case of Perfect World.

A lot of people complain that Power-Leveling or “PL” to some is hard work. I can’t say that I disagree. PL is really hard, otherwise, everyone in his brother would reach the level cap in a matter of days.

But there are some ways and systems which I’ll share with you in order for you to PL wisely and effectively. Like everything else, it’s both an art and a science. PL is number-crunching. You’ll have to learn some advanced methods if you want to keep up with the “superstars” of the community.

GM Tristan’s Gadget Round-up

Lately, I haven’t been able to post any gadgets. Sorry for that. In this “maiden issue” of my gadget roundup, I’ll be showing you 5 cheap and cool gadgets. This means that you can start saving that lunch money for one of these babies!

In the round-up, I’ll let you in on a great USB device that will instantly turn your laptop into a TV, show you a small but all-around video recorder (which is also Happyslip’s gear), a light 500GB USB hard drive so you can store your pron, I mean… documents.

China is Top Among Asian Markets – EA Games

Video game and industry giant EA is looking to China as the next big market player. Who isn’t? A lot of other companies are seeing China as the “next big thing”. With its rising economy and huge demand, China is expected to yield great financial growth to any company who makes a foothold.

The other countries were Japan and Korea.

“The focus really is about how do we capture online game market share, and mobile game market share, and the biggest focus for me right now is online games in China and Korea,” said Jon Niermann, EA Games’ Asia GM, a former Disney executive.

Search for Mr. and Ms. Ragnarok Valkyrie 2008 (pRO)

For me, I really believe that the real strength of an online game is not the graphics or the variations of gameplay. It’s the community that truly measures a game’s success. That’s why I’m really happy whenever there are community-generated events and activities such as Master Diwa’s group’s Search for Mr. and Ms. pRO Valkyrie 2008.

It reminded me of both the times I was doing community events even before I became GM Tristan and the things I started for the Filipino online gaming community. Props to Master Diwa and the denizens of Valkyrie for this initiative! Also, thanks for choosing me as one of the official judges for the event.

Lagmeter – A Tool to End Lag?

I recently shared with you some online tools to help you with your online gaming. This here’s a certain addition to that bunch. We all know how frustrating lag is when playing ANY online game. In my old blog, I wrote some tips on how to reduce the effects of lag.

But this time, some folks at Bigfoot Netoworks have developed an application that they claim can make you understand and combat lag.

It’s called Lagmeter which “gives you the ability to not only measure the Lag you live with in your games, but also to understand where your lag-related problems are coming from. Finally, the causes of your Lag will not be a mystery because LagMeter will tell you if it is your gaming PC, the network, or the gaming server that is giving you grief. Once the causes of Lag are better understood, the gamers, game developers, and hardware manufacturers can work together to provide solutions to our #1 problem.”

They’re called the Pussycat Dolls of the Philippines. Hot and sexy all-filipina dance group Mocha is making waves everywhere. With TV apperances, gigs and shows.

Indiana Jones New Movie, New Trailer

On May 22, Indiana Jones will be back to thrill and delight us again.

And yes, it still is starring Harrison Ford! OMG, but he’s old?!? The movie is entitled Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystall Skull.

Directed by Steven Spielberg and written by David Keopp and George Lucas under LucasFilms. This is one movie this year that you shouldn’t miss.

RF Online Philippines Crimson Dawn (Epi 2.2) Online Today!

After the much needed rest and respite yesterday due to the celebration of the Edsa revolution, Level Up and the RF team is getting ready to launch its own revolution in the online game and MMORPG industry in the Philippines.

Yes, the eagerly anticipated patch of RF Online Philippines – Episode 2 part 2: Crimson Dawn is set to go online anytime today (Feb 26, 2008). We’re going to have a slightly extended downtime as we prop the servers ready and test everything before we give the thumbs up for the “New Beginning” in Novus.

I’ve also updated my youtube channel (aka GM TV) with the latest RF Online Crimson Dawn TV Ad video.

I think it is safe to assume that only a few men DO NOT know about Maria Ozawa. If you’re one of them, Maria Ozawa is one of the most “googled” names in the Internet. Owe it to the fact that Maria, of Japanese and French-Canadian descent, is one of the hottest Japanese AV stars.

Maria Ozawa was born Jan. 8, 1986. Her hobbies include cooking, which she is good at, and watching movies on her flatscreen television set. She also enjoys playing video games, and owns a pink Nintendo DS Lite, and a pink PlayStation 2 console.

Her beauty is described as “a perfect balance of Japanese beauty mixed with a dash of exoticism.” I couldn’t agree more.

What’s Your Typical Weekly Blog Routine?

I’d like to know what your typical weekly blog routine is. I’ll share to you mine to start the comments and discussions.

Basically, I try to write all the articles for the coming week on either a Friday night or Saturday. I just “pre-post” them. It’s a feature at WordPress where you can schedule posts to appear whenever you want to (date and time specific).

Meanwhile, to get inspiration for what articles to write, there are certain things that are already routine for me such as taking notes during our work meetings on which promos or announcements to feature at the blog. A lot of people at the game forums as me and Waukster why we post at our blogs instead of there. Well, to tell you the truth, there are people who are tasked to post announcements there. Due to some approvals and processes, our announcements are usually a few hours or a day early. That does not necessarily mean that we are prioritizing our blog(s). It just means that we want to spread the word and get it to as many people as possible. The blog is an extension of the game sites and the forums… anyways, I digress.
