Top 5 Girls of Gaming

Throughout the years, we’ve come to admire the female characters in video games. One of my fondest memories of course was rescuing a certain “Princess Peach” from the evil clutches of King Koopa while I took on the role of an Italian plumber with his cousin Luigi.

Soon after, scores of games would feature memorable heroines which would later become definitive icons in this digital age.

After giving it much forethought, I decided to just list down the gmtristan.com “Top 5 most influential female video game characters”

Countdown begins when you hit jump!

Gaming Case Mods

Just dugg this off techEBlog

I’m sure some of us LOVE our games. But a rare bunch of dudes love their hardware even more!

Modding started off with PC cases. I mean, who would ever love those old beige and plan-vanilla, boring PC cases, right? Modding, as a hobby, then took off. Some businesses catering to this growing niche emerged. As time passed, modders began to fiddle beyond the PC - they found out that consoles (and handhelds) were also fun to work with.

Enough of my yammering… to the photos now:

You know the drill… more photos when you hit jump!

Perfect World Event at SM Megatrade on Aug 4

Hear ye! Hear ye!

The Perfect World Philippines MMORPG team is inviting everyone to come join them for a huge launch party of the game.

This event “Enter A Perfect World” will be this Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007 and it will be at the SM Megatrade Hall 2(SM Megamall) from 10:30am to 9:00pm. GM Justice tells me that there’s a very special person he’s invited as a guest.

I’ve peeped into some of the meetings in preparation for this event and there’s going to be a lot of activities (not to mention tons of freebies and giveaways). Plus, there’s gonna be FREE GAMING TRIALS of PW, of course, all throughout the day. So if you haven’t tried this game, now’s your chance.

Level Up Toy Fair 2007

When CEO Jane Walker asked me to chair the informal “Level Up Fun Committee”, part of my job is to bring back the fun and excitement back to the office. While taking cigarette breaks in our favorite hangout: “6.5″, project officer Alex Mena  (a fellow toy collector and ebay addict) and myself came up with an idea to organize the first ever LEVEL UP TOY FAIR 2007.

A lot of Level Up employees love and collect toys. What better way to showcase these than in an exhibit/contest. The timing was also perfect since we just celebrated our 5th year anniversary as a company this week.

The mechanics was simple, each employee can bring up to two toys (action figures or vehicle). A diorama or set counts as two entries.

More photos and the winners after the jump…

Review: Switchplanet

They say that “one man’s trash is another person’s treasure”. This old saying is definitely true in switchplanet.com.

Switchplanet.com, a new online services promises to bring people closer through and innovative and cool system: build a network through one’s collection of music, movies, games and books. What a novel idea, if I may say so myself.

The concept works like this: members can connect with each other to discuss their favorite or least favorite DVDs, CDs, Video Games and Books…and through these connections even pass on the experience, good or bad, by switching these same items across the network…all for FREE!

Is Your Face Here? MyBlogLog Community

Sometimes, I check the little mybloglog widget at my sidebar and see a lot of fresh faces and visitors. Often there are visitors as far away as the US and even Europe. It really brings a smile to a face to note how powerful “link-loving” is and the real power of “online word of mouth”… that’s BLOGGING to most peeps.

Anyways, if you’re not in the photo below, be sure to join my community now.

Thanks…

Keyboard Repair: A Gamer Must-Know

As gamers, and especially during the harrasment that a keyboard gets during online play, we should know certain BASICS on how to repair our own PC keyboards.

Let’s face it. Aside from your mouse, your Keyboard (or “KB” to some) is probably the second most-abused device in your PC. If it were alive, it will probably be martyred as a saint…

Consider the abuse: you spam it! press hard on it! Afix coins to “macro” your skills and pots, spill Coke on it… the list goes on and on and on.

What follows are some tips and info on how to do basic repairs and troubleshoot your loyal workhorse - the keyboard!

Let’s hit it!

Yeah, you’ll notice that I’ve been blogging about stuff for FlyFF lately. I promised GM Atma that I’d be helping him promote version 8 to the community and through this property.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to congratulate him for doing a great job! The patch from V7 to V8 went uneventful and I’m happy to announce that starting yesterday, there’s a 2X EXP MOD on all FlyFF servers!!! Starting July 25 to Aug 1.

Anyways, do check out the new stuff of Version 8 in this trailer video from our official LUG Youtube Channel
