12 Midnight Curfew Starts in Metro Manila, Parts of Luzon

In a move related to the siege at Manila Pen, government has just announced that there will be a curfew of 12am to 5am starting midnight tonight (technically, Friday Nov 30 AM).

DILG Secretary Ronaldo Puno made the announcement just tonight.

Below is the text from official reports via inquirer.net

“We are doing this to protect the citizenry. This is not martial law,”
Philippine National Police Chief Avelino Razon told INQUIRER.net in a phone interview.

Razon said the curfew would hopefully be implemented for just a day.

In a news briefing in Malacañang, Puno appealed to the public to “bear with the inconvenience” brought about by the declaration of the curfew.

He said the curfew was issued “to allow law enforcement agencies to continue their follow-up operation.”

    The Manila Pen Siege a coup d’etat? It sounds more like a temper tantrum, poorly thought out, haphazardly executed and thoroughly pointless.

    Too bad nightstalkers will not enjoy the long night again. Thank God Im in Davao, always safe and sound even if I walk alone in the darkest corner of the city.
